Our Story

Our passion has and continues to be aluminum catamarans. Over 25 years ago we started building catamarans. One of the first was the “Matou”, which is the French spelling of Cat. We built a series of these hulls from 26 to 30’, the Matou had twin 250 Yamahas and would run well of 50 mph. The boat fished for years out of Fresh Water City, Louisiana, running Mr. Tommy Hazleton, a WW2 vet, and his buddies to the near shore rigs. Mr. Tommy was a wonderful customer as well as a friend. The two boys in the photo are my two sons, now grown and in their late 20’s.

The market drew us away from these smaller catamarans and onto United States Coast Guard Certified Passenger Vessel Catamarans. In this process, we delivered many innovative builds up to 82’ in length. Through this experience, we have learned what to do, and of course, not what to do.   Photos below show a variety of commercial catamaran deliveries for customers from Hawaii to the Virgin Islands, to the Carolinas. These vessels were delivered for passenger vessel operators and other commercial operators.

At our core, we are engineers, architects and fisherman. We believe that the best design is only as good as the support behind it. We bring together design experience with the world leader in commercial catamarans under 33 meters with program management and design experience on vessels for the US Navy.

Design

We use classic naval architecture that combines 3D modeling and Computer Aided Design. Our owner is a registered professional engineer who has over 40 years of experience in vessel design and construction. Experience that started as a teenager, crawling through boats in shipyard, twisting wrenches with Detroit Diesel mechanics, and picking up boat captains for his father’s boat rental business that looked like Elvis and would drive old red Oldsmobiles, who occasionally spend a little time with the Sheriff.

Manufacturing

We take pride in being a Louisiana boat builder. We strive to combine our rich history of aluminum vessel construction, with the latest design tools, quality fabrication, and quality outfit.

We are in an industrial complex in New Iberia, LA, our facilities include enclosed production sheds with an overhead crane and other material handling equipment. We are a true turn key manufacturer that utilizes in house CAD designs that are then processed on our MultiCam CNC Router Table and formed on our Atlantic CNC Press Brake.

Welding processes are either MIG or TIG with the latest Miller equipment, and fit out, electrical and finishing is by a combination of in house and trusted suppliers. We team with leading OEM’s such as TACO, GEMLUX, Boat Outfitters and many others to provide a fully finished product.
